** The package price is for school groups of 20 or more students. TRANSPORTATION ON THE MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI Learn about the development and adaptation of riverboats that have traveled the Mississippi River. Experience a virtual timeline of boats from the early days of log rafts to today’s commercial barges and towboats. Along the way, students will have the opportunity to view various detailed boat models. Students will also climb aboard a reconstructed 1870s packet boat complete with the sights and sounds of the past. $6.00 THE MUD HUNT A scavenger hunt for information found along the River Walk model. It’s a creative blend of education and recreation. Students will discover answers by investigating the scale model, various maps, and text panels by utilizing their own exploratory skills. This program focuses on the river, its history, science, geology and map reading skills. This is a great outdoor, educational experience for all grade levels. Questions, answers and Souvenir Mud Island River Park Pencils are provided. $6.00 CIVIL WAR RIVER WALK TOUR This unique tour utilizes the River Walk model to help students develop an understanding of the strategic importance of the Mississippi River during the U.S. Civil War. The tour highlights the major river battles and important cities along the Lower Mississippi. It focuses on history, geography and transportation as well as the strategies and campaigns of both the Union and Confederate forces. $6.00 Haven’t been to Mud Island River Park in a while?
